About our band 关于我们的乐队:
坊 The Gate was formed in the autumn of 2007 in Kunming, Yunnan, China. The two original founding members are Marc Hollingsworth on acoustic guitar and vocals (马克) and Ma Li (马力) on African drum and backing vocals who created the band after a period of playing together at Open Mic Night at the Halfway House (半山) bar. Since then, the band has taken on several forms, originally a 4-piece including Yan Fei (严飞) on saxophone and Peter (Canada) on the Fender bass. The band has also played in trio form with Qiao Hai Jun (乔海军) on bass. The current formation is a duo, Marc Hollingsworth and Ma Li.
坊 The Gate is an acoustic blues-based band whose primary influences include Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Robert Johnson, Son House, T-Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker, Bill Withers. Our music also drifts into the soul and rock genre as well as influences from several Chinese musicians, most notable 许巍 (Xu Wei) and 野孩子 (Ye Hai Zi). We perform in an "unplugged" type configuration and strive to create music that sounds natural to the ear as well as moving.

坊 The Gate 乐队于2007年秋天在中国云南省昆明成立。 由于半山咖啡 Open Mic "打开门" 这个活动的进行，使很多酷爱音乐的人聚到一起，马克 Marc Hollingsworth （吉他） 和马力 （鼓） 就组成这个乐队。 不久，严飞 （萨克斯） 和 Peter 彼特 （贝斯） 又相继加入了这个乐队，后来乐队又有了新的成员，乔海军 （贝斯）。 现在乐队的成员依然是马克和马力。
坊The Gate 乐队是 “不插电” 以布鲁斯为基础，主要的影响是 Muddy Waters， Howlin’ Wolf， Elmore James，Jimi Hendrix，BB King，Robert Johnson，Son House，T-Bone Walker，John Lee Hooker，Bill Withers。 我们的音乐也受灵魂、西方摇滚及中国摇滚的影响，主要的是许巍和野孩子乐队。 为了创作让观众感觉自然和感动的音乐，我们的演出方式是 “不插电” 的。
